(San Antonio, TX )
We adopted Woodstock ("Woody") a bit over two years ago. He was picked up wandering the streets in McAllen, TX, deathly thin, not neutered and heart worm positive. He was picked up by a rescue in San Antonio and fostered by a lovely woman who fostered Bassets.
We went out to go clothes shopping and never thought we'd return with another family member. The rescue group was parked outside of a pet store chain and my kiddos begged to go look at the dogs. I eyed two bassets right away and knew my husband had always wanted one. We adopted Woody and he was so unhealthy that he barely made it up the stairs in our house to the second floor without panting. Mind you, this dog was estimated 2-3 years old.
Jump forward, Woodstock is heart worm negative, proper weight, and an absolute joy to have in our family. He chose my middle son to follow around and sleep in bed with. He will sit waiting by the front door waiting for his 7 year old human. Our hearts are forever in love with bassets because of this sweet, goofy dog.
