Who did the rescuing?

by Gina
(Houston, Tx)

Found on a Garage Sale website--his previous owner had him listed for $500 with the major complaint that he didn't like to go camping. After explaining to her I'd love to have him but asking $500 for a dog that was a year old was a little too much. Several weeks passed when I received an email asking if I would just take him. They were tired of him and wanted him gone. That wonderful day was 9 years ago. Entered into my life was the most laid back, easy going, well mannered, greatest love of my life whom I renamed Cody. He has been my entertainment, my faithful friend, my greatest sleep buddy and my life since that great day. I cant explain the bond we share and the love we provide to each other. He is the greatest part of my life and I am so thankful that he still doesn't like camping because I am just as happy on the couch as he is.

How blessed are you both!
by: Jeanette

Oh Gina, what a wonderful story! Cody is so blessed that you didn't give up on him. People have NO idea what they miss out on in a Basset for a companion. Their loss was definitely YOUR gain. I'm sure Cody is your constant companion, just as Shasta is mine. Thank you for sharing such a great story. It sounds like you were BOTH rescued in so many ways.

He's so sweet...

Can't believe someone would give up such a nice dog because he didn't like camping. But, I guess that's their loss. So glad you found him and have been able to enjoy each other for so long.
