Tyler's Journey Home
I rescued my baby boy from a horrible puppy mill. He was only six weeks old and stole my heart with one look in his eyes.
Tyler came with numerous issues, he had no training from his litter mates or his mother, so he definitely wanted to be the alpha male. He also had a parasite from the puppy mill which was undetected until he was 2 years old. He was miserable and so was I. I cried when I had to go home from work to care for him.
Finally I had him evaluated by a professional trainer, she stated it would be a shame to put him down because he has "not an ounce of aggression" I enrolled him in puppy training ( he had to take twice), took him to puppy parties for socialization, and started him in doggy daycare 2 days a week. My baby boy Tyler is now 10 years old, and is laying on my lap as I type this.
My vet smiles every time she sees him, and compliments me, stating most people would not have put in the time or energy. She also states he has the cleanest ears of any Basset. Tyler had one awful ear infection and that taught me my lesson.
Tyler is my constant companion, since I am home daily, truly my best buddy. My advice to anyone who does not want a Basset - don't look into those amazing soulful eyes. His AKC name (Title of Story) has numerous meanings to me, but could not be more true of his Journey into my heart.
