The V toy...

We adopted a neglected (to say the very least) Basset Hound Oct. 2009 and the fun began. Being a cat person (I have 5) dogs are a slobbery mess to me but my husband wanted him so there he is.

So I had to find toys to entertain him. We went through SOOO many. Basset hounds may be the most laid back dogs but they have strong jaws and tear up many, many normal dog toys.

About a week after Valentine's day I went to the store and saw the big basket of HUGE stuffed animals, the ones that are normally $25, on sale for $8. Well, they were BIG and they happened to have a red dog lying flat on his belly with a white heart on his back. I figured he'd have a hard time doing damage to this toy (or it would at least last more than a day). So I bought it and took it home.

My laid back puppy (60 pound 1 year old puppy) took one look at this thing and went NUTS!! He became "THE MAN" and has his morning, afternoon, & evening romps daily.

Sounds like such a cutie with that toy. How about some pics? My basset is 12 so I love seeing the puppies.

I swear we have to the same toy! My husband/boy friend at the time, bought me a white stuffed puppy dog for valentines day one year. We got out basset, Savannah, over a year later. I was willing to give it to her because it reminded me of her. It has a red heart on its back and a red nose, floppy ears and all. She loves it! she has yet to rip it. She has pulled the stuffing out of other things, but seems not to be able to with this one. She has played with it every day for 6 months+. We even play catch with it. It get dirty fast, but when I wash it with towels it looks brand new! Wish I could post a photo of her with it....

Congratulations on adopting a Basset Hound! I'm so happy to hear that your puppy has found a good home and now has some fun toys to play with.

I agree... they do tend to tear those small, stuffed toys up pretty quickly. The big octopus that my Basset Hound likes will last a few months and then it gets holes and slobber all over it. So we usually get him a new one every few months. It's still his favorite toy after many years.
