We got our new puppy a few days before Christmas (2009). We are newlyweds and having been dieing for a puppy. We wanted to wait to find a Basset, I was so excited when I did. I was so nervous that something would happen as if it was too good to be true considering I found her on Craigslist. We love her to death and couldn't ever consider crate training her. I do not think crate training is a bad thing. My husband and I just don't have set schedules due to his job (not getting off at the same time everyday) and me being in class a couple times a week at night. I will say that we are having a hard time training her on the puppy pads. We just have to give it time I guess. At night she doesn't like to sleep a lot. She likes biting us (teething I guess). We have her plenty of toys, just haven't found the right one. I am hoping for the next week to pass fast so I can get her the shots she needs and take her to the vet for a checkup. Wish me luck!
