Ruby was a gift to my 12 year old son. He was diagnosed with Tourettes and was having a hard time. So one day we decided we needed a puppy to love. We found Ruby from a local breeder. She was about 15 weeks old. She was a little skinny and awkward but we fell in love with her immediately. She was a part of the family.

The one thing I learned from having a Basset Hound is that no matter how sweet the face is she still needs some discipline no matter how hard that may be. She was one of the best dogs I have ever owned.

I had to make the decision to have her put to sleep after she developed some cancerous lesions. She was in pain and it broke my heart. But I did not want her to suffer after she had given me so much happiness. She is missed everyday.

I would definitely recommend a Basset to anyone who has a heart big enough to love a pet, that does not think she is a pet but a four legged person.

Always missing Ruby,

Thanks for sharing Ruby...

So sorry you had to put her to sleep.

I agree... they really bring a lot of happiness (and laughs) with them. Also agree that they need some discipline too.. their looks (cute, sweet, adorable, etc.) can help the get away with stuff.

Thanks for the photo. She looks like my Basset Hound.
