Pete and repeat
by David hauck
We are owned by 2 Basset Hounds Spartacus, the red, will be 3 in a few days and Oliver, the tri-color, just turned 2. Spartacus is very well behaved and well then there is Oliver!
Oliver has eaten poisonous plants, enough shoes to fill a shoe store and even a very large treble hook that was baited with a garlic cheese dough ball all set up for a camping and fishing weekend. Needless to say we had to take him to the vet ER and have it removed via surgery. He recovered just fine but was maybe 4 or 5 months old at the time.
While Oliver is content sunbathing on his back and legs wide open, Spartacus waits patiently for you to leave your camping chair so that he can claim it...
No matter the tons of hair that we have swept up in the last 3 years or the countless times Oliver has stopped our hearts with whatever mischief he can find himself in, we would not trade these family members for all the money in the world. We are actually thinking of adopting a senior just to make its remaining time to be as pleasant as possible.
Basset hounds are a perfect family dog and very funny. They all have a personality that is all their own and will make you fall in love with them all over again the next day.
