silly sleeping
My husband took me to the owner's home to choose the pups. I just fell in love with all of them. I choose 2 (both female), one for me and one for my mother. On the ride home, I picked the name for the blond one "Ginger" and my 4 year old daughter was holding the brown one and said, "Your name is Pickles." I laughed but the name stuck.
For the weekend we took the pups to my mother's home so she could pick the one she wanted. Problem was (1) she really didn't want a dog and (2) I was already in love with both of them. My mom noticed Ginger wasn't looking too well. So I watched her very closely. That's when I found out both pups had worms really badly. Neither one had ever been treated for worms.
I went to the pet store and found a dewormer and gave each a dose. Then next morning I found out just how bad the worms were when they were outside. I cried. I felt so sorry for them. Apparently, we got all the worms because I took them to the vet yesterday and they said they both look great.
Ginger is a little thin, but I was told, that is because of the bad worm infestation. With a healthy diet she should gain weight. Pickles never did act sickly. (oh, is fighting normal)
They seem to be very happy now. They play and eat a lot. They tolerate my 4 year old carrying them around. They even love playing with our border collie, even if she's not to excited about the pups.
I am working with the house breaking and have gotten a lot of tips from this site. I will post further updates when I can. I would appreciate any tips as well. My email is: good_as_gold@rocketmail.com
