My 1st and not last Adoption...

by Hecto Alvarado
(Midlothian IL)

My name is Hector and my wife is Brenda Alvarado... We live in Midlothian IL, just south of Chicago... We adopted a 6 year old Basset Hound name Jersey... She is just great and we have fallen in love with her already... We dont have any kids, so you can say she's our first lil girl... She is a full Blooded basset hound... One thing we are worried about is her eyes, they seem to be red most of the time and not really sure why... We bought some pet eye drops and it seems to help but the redness will return... But other then that, we wouldn't give her up for anything or anyone sorry for no pictures.

Red eyes!
by: Anonymous

Hello! My basset has droopy, red eyes. The vet said it is ectropian, a common problem with Basset's eyes where the bottom eyelid turns outwards. They get a little worse when she is tired but other than that it's nothing to worry about. Check with your vet to be sure.

Mine has red eyes too...

My Basset Hound's eyes have always been reddish / pinkish on the bottom. But, there's nothing wrong with him and doesn't seem to bother him. It's just the way his eyes are.

Red eyes
by: Angie from South AFrica

Check with your Vet - hopefully its not cherry eyes. My Shannon's eyes are very very droopy and she has red eyes most of the time (took her to the vet and he said there was nothing wrong at all - its just because they are soooo droooopy).

Congrats...

Congrats on adopting a Basset Hound. You might want to consult a vet on the eyes if you are concerned. Enjoy!
