Maggie The Basset (Maggie Cato)
by Jonathan R. Cato
(Conway , SC)
I am writing this because I am very sad. I wrote stories abut Maggie before. They were funny stories. This one is not.
Maggie was a pretty sick dog and it came on very quickly. She must have had some kind of cancer that affected her liver and stomach. I took her to her regular doctor. He examined her taken x-rays, he did not like what he saw. So he recommended Veterinarian Specialist out of Mount Pleasant, SC.
We took her there. They did everything they could for her to keep her from suffering.(Doctors there saw nothing like that before what was going on inside her.) They could have done surgery, but the chances she would recover from the surgery was not good. So making one of the hardest decision in my life in what to do for my Maggie. We had to think really hard for what was best for Maggie and not us as a family.
We decided to have Maggie put to sleep. We didn't want her to suffer anymore than she had too, after x-rays after x-rays, MRI, ultra-sounds ,she lost a lot of blood from bleeding internally. She was not herself, feeling a lot of pain. I could not imagined what she going though.
Maggie was the best Basset Hound I ever known! She was my best dog companion. We are going too miss her very, very.....much. We have lots of good memories of her (Maggie). Maggie Will be forever in our hearts.
She was 9 yrs and 4 months.
