February 12, 2009. Since the majority of pet owners overlook the importance of pet dental health, the American Veterinary Medical Association and several other veterinary associations are sponsoring National Pet Dental Health month.
It's purpose is to remind pet owners that dental health care is essential to maintaining the overall health and well-being of the family pet.
According to AVMA president, Dr. James Cook, "Oral disease is the most frequently diagnosed health problem for pets."
Here's another interesting fact... 80% of dogs show signs of oral disease by the age of three.
Here's an important point... neglecting dog dental care now may lead to oral disease and costly veterinarian bills in the future.
