Ellie Belly Steals The Cupcake

by Cassandra

A few months ago I was on my way to AZ to finally live with my husband, after a year apart. I had already known what I was awaiting at my new home and the trip could not have gone by fast enough. When I finally arrived, a tiny baby girl Basset Hound greeted me. From the moment I saw her, she has been the light of my life.

As innocent as she looks, those looks are very deceiving! My husband was put on mid-shift, working nights, and I had class in the morning. My husband came home from a long night and grabbed a cupcake I had made the night before. I left for class, going about my day, but when I arrived back home my husband questioned me about his cupcake. Apparently he had not eaten the cupcake but instead left it on the coffee table and fell asleep. Ellie took full advantage of free food and snatched it up, wrapper and all. Needless to say, we no longer trust food unattended! (:

Congrats on getting a Basset Hound puppy! Ellie Belly (love the name) must be adorable.

Yes, guard your food. We have a really cozy set up out back on our deck with an outdoor couch / chairs and a low coffee table. It's nice to BBQ and eat outside when the weather is nice. But, don't leave your plate on the table. Because when you get back your burger might be gone! The Basset Hound just can't resist and I can't blame him for that.

Full grown Basset Hounds are also known to grab stuff off of the kitchen counter top (although mine doesn't do that ). Some can get there paws up there (I guess they stretch that long back) and grab stuff off. LOL
