Bowzer - the greatest Basset EVER

by Jen

NOT begging!

NOT begging!

Our beloved son, Bowzer, is 11 years old and we can't imagine life without him. He has been the best companion we have ever had. He is our first basset but won't be the last. He loves to sing (howl) Happy Birthday and Who Let The Dogs Out. His favorite thing to do is tear wrapping paper at holiday time.

If considering a basset hound, I highly recommend it. However, do spend time cleaning the ears! That is the only problem we have had with Bowzer, his right ear is always infected.

I have to constantly remind myself to cherish his days instead of worrying about life without him. He brings our family more joy than we could ever imagine.

I have a Bassett named scooter. She went blind when she was 2.she is 8 now and it is amazing how well she adapted and gets around. People that come to my house and don't know she is blind never know. She really amazes me...she is the best dog I have ever had.

Heart Broken with you
by: JK

I too just had to let my Basset Hound Kapler go. He was a 4 year survivor of cancer. My heart is so broken right now, I miss him terribly! Kapler was my first Basset but will not be my last. He brought so much joy to my life. He ws the best companion anyone could ever want!

Heart Broken
by: Jen (mommy to Bowzer)

What we have feared happened last night. After 5 days of not eating and the weekend at the emergency vet we had to put Bowzer down. He was my best friend and the heart of our family. Bowzer gave so much love we couldn't let him suffer a minute longer. We are blessed to have loved him for 11 years and he holds a huge part of our hearts.

For all you Basset owners: CHERISH YOUR DAYS. Love your hound with all you have. Give them the spot they want on the couch or in bed. That little ice cream left in the bowl is for them - that's why it doesn't get into your spoon. Live as they do - with nothing but love to give!
